2. Ask us for permission
You must get our permission before keeping a pet at home.

The easiest way to do this is to complete the pet request form below.

3. We'll be in touch
Once we've received your request, a member of the housing team will get in touch.
4. Pets we can't allow
You cannot keep any of the following animals in your home or communal spaces: 
  • Farm animals, including sheep, goats, pigs, cattle, horses, ducks chickens and cockerels 
  • Animals registered under the Dangerous Wild Animals Act 1976 including some poisonous snakes, spiders and monkeys  
  • Dogs specified in the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 including Pit Bull Terriers, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, Fila Brasileiro and American XL Bully
  • Any other animal legally prohibited to be kept as a pet. 

The only exception is for dogs registered on the Index of Exempted Dogs. These dogs have undergone an assessment to ensure they are safe, and owners must follow strict legal conditions. You can find more details on the gov.uk website – Banned Dogs
