You are responsible for the maintenance and safety of gas appliances and pipes in your home.

You need to get your boiler and gas fires serviced every year to make sure they’re safe and to ensure that any warranties remain valid. 

An up-to-date gas service certificate will be required if you wish to sell your home.

If you have an air source heating system, to ensure you get the maximum performance and to comply with the manufacturer's warranty conditions, you need to arrange an annual service. 

If you live in a low-energy 'passivhaus', you'll have a mechanical ventilation heat recovery system (MVHR). We recommend you get this serviced annually. 

If you have an open fire or log burner, we recommend you have your chimney swept once a year. 

The best time to do this is just before you'll need to use your fire for the colder months.
