Help shape the future of rural communities in the Peak District and Derbyshire

Peak District Rural Housing Association (PDRHA) is seeking new voluntary Board Members who are passionate about helping shape the future of specialist rural housing.

For more than 35 years, our innovative charitable housing association has provided high‑quality, affordable homes for people with a strong local connection, helping to sustain and strengthen rural communities across the Peak District and rural Derbyshire.

Joining our Board is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference and contribute to an organisation with a clear social purpose.


Who are we looking for?

We're looking for passionate and committed people who share our ambition to support rural communities through the provision of affordable housing.

You will demonstrate:

  • A strong commitment to affordable rural housing and sustaining local communities
  • Experience of contributing to the development and delivery of strategic vision and objectives
  • A good understanding of effective governance, including adherence to best practice
  • Experience of reviewing organisational performance and supporting continuous improvement
  • Experience of policy development aligned to organisational goals
  • An understanding of risk management and assurance
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
  • A collaborative approach and ability to work constructively as part of a Board team
  • The confidence to scrutinise, challenge and support in a positive and respectful way
  • A willingness to maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of the housing and regulatory environment

The Board is particularly keen to strengthen its collective skills and welcomes applicants with knowledge or experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Housing finance
  • Business development
  • PR, media and communications, including social media and digital engagement
  • Legal expertise
  • An understanding of the resident experience
  • Experience of working within a regulated environment
